The US Dollar Will Rally Even if Global Currencies Get Debased!
Brent Johnson of Santiago Capital joins Deer Point Macro in a conversation with Blake Morrow about several topics that are moving the markets today.
First of all, Brent and Deer Point give their views on the US Debt and how that will affect the attitude towards the US Dollar and how it may trade. Brent shares his view that even if currencies were debased somehow, the US Dollar would still rally against most currencies. And that gold may be a better alternative.
Deer point macro also gives his views on the gold market and how rates have a big role to play in the price of gold. Brent also echoes this sentiment and discusses how gold is a yield move and will continue to be one.
Both Brent and Deer Point discuss the bond market and how they see yields moving forward.
Deer Point believes the USA may be better sheltered from an outright recession, or at least will fare better. Brent on the other hand doesn’t think the USA can escape a recession.
